What is The Japan Butler Academy?
About The Japan Butler Academy
Japan's only institution dedicated to authentic butler training, blending traditional skills with the demands of the modern world.

What The Japan Butler Academy Strives For
A butler is far more than a domestic professional. The Japan Butler Academy was founded as a place where students can systematically learn the craft and mindset of anticipating needs, preparing the environment, and acting before a word is spoken.

A Hands-On, Small-Group Way of Learning
Our distinctive curriculum fuses traditional butler expertise with the practical skills required by today's service industry, training butlers who are ready to act — not just to study. Lessons are centred on hands-on practice, delivered in small groups of no more than six students so that every individual receives the instructor's full attention. All classes are held on weekends so students can continue working while they learn.

A Structured Three-Level Programme and Instructors Rich in Field Experience
The curriculum is structured across three progressive levels — Essential, Advanced, and Master — with each higher level including the full content of the levels below it. By choosing the single course that matches your goal, you can systematically cover everything from foundational skills through advanced application to management and crisis response.
Our instructors are professionals who have refined their craft as working butlers both in Japan and abroad. They convey the techniques and judgement built through real-world experience as a structured set of skills, nurturing abilities that graduates can apply in practice from day one.

Structured Textbooks Supervised by The All Japan Butler Association
The foundation of our teaching is a set of modular specialist textbooks supervised by The All Japan Butler Association, organised into Foundational, Applied, and Specialist series. From fundamentals such as Introduction to Butler Studies and Housekeeping, through applied subjects like household management, dining service, and event planning, to international protocol and crisis management, they are structured so that the knowledge and skills a butler needs can be built up step by step. They also serve as reference materials to keep at hand after graduation, supporting continued learning.

Our Odaiba Campus
In-person lessons are held at our main campus in Odaiba, Tokyo. In a refined setting reminiscent of a luxury hotel lobby, you will master tea service, table setting, and the art of the escort through hands-on practice. Combined with on-demand video lessons for preparation and review, this hybrid approach lets the limited in-person time be devoted to practical training and questions.
OUR STRENGTHS
Four Defining Strengths
Four Pillars of Our Education
Our education rests on four pillars: the depth only small-group instruction can offer, a systematised curriculum, a recognised professional certification, and a weekend schedule that fits around full-time work.
Small-Group, Practice-First Teaching
With a maximum of six students per class, instructors can examine every detail of each student's technique and guide them to confident mastery. We are committed to repetition until the skill is truly embodied, not just understood.
Systematised Curriculum and Materials
Traditional butler skills have been reorganised to meet contemporary needs and systematised into a progressive curriculum. Understanding why each technique matters — through both theory and practice — builds adaptable, transferable capability.
A Path to Association Certification
Students who complete the designated programme and pass the assessment earn an official butler credential recognised by The All Japan Butler Association — a mark of professional credibility and a foundation for career development.
Weekend Classes for Working Professionals
All classes are held on weekends, enabling students to deepen their expertise without leaving their current position. It is designed as a career-development pathway for those who wish to learn while they work, whether for a career change or to advance in their field.
